Spotlight on Christina Harbridge

Nineteen years ago, Christina began working for a collection agency so she could finance her college education. As she studied to receive her Bachelors degree in economics from San Francisco State University, she quickly moved up the industry ranks, and shortly after she graduated was co-owner and vice president of a Bay Area collection firm. Motivated by the innate challenges of the collection industry and her vision to implement a collection company focused on positive public relations, she sold her shares in the company in 1994 and opened Bridgeport Financial, Inc.

During her years as president of Bridgeport Financial, Christina has led the industry in many diverse and creative ways. To date, she has served as past president for the California Association of Collectors, as Public Relations chair for the American Collectors Association, as a board of director for the American Collectors Association, as past president of The Executives Association of San Francisco, and as past president of CUBS West Coast Users Group. Today, Christina proudly sits on the Board of Directors for the Better Business Bureau and past board member for The Rotary Club of San Francisco; she also maintains an active role in the wider community, including organizing events for Camp Enterprise, delivering food for Project Open Hand, working as continuing education instructor for the Bar Association, and appearing on national television and radio as an expert in her field.

A commissioned Notary Public, respected keynote speaker, collections trainer, and a California Collections representative, Christina speaks to the US Congress in order to ensure equitable legislation for both creditors and consumers. Her in-depth knowledge and unique approach to the collection industry has made her a highly respected training consultant to collection agencies across the country; she has trained and guided hundreds of collectors during her career and is often credited with increasing the return of accounts receivable for client companies who have used her training.

Christina has received the McCarty/Ferber Award for meritorious public service, the Hershey award for the industry work and the Larry Cassidy Legislative Award for her lobbying efforts. In 1997, the California Legislature presented her with an official recognition of her excellent service. Her consumer and credit advocacy has been featured on the Maury Povich Show and numerous magazines and periodicals.

In her free time Christina enjoys teaching Dale Carnegie courses, taking flying lessons, surfing and creating metal sculpture. She encourages questions at all times-from everybody. Simply put, her goal is to revolutionize the credit community and take the fear out of money.
